Online File Sharing

Online File Sharing

Overview

OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Document Libraries are the two primary File Share types on campus.

OneDrive for Business is the individual user's online storage space that each Faculty and Staff member has. SharePoint Document Libraries are a collection of intra- and inter-departmental shared folders of documents accessible on SPU's SharePoint.

Features

A user's Documents folder is generally used as a default storage location for an individual's files and is recommended to be synced to OneDrive for Business. Files in a user's OneDrive can be shared to those within and external to the university. Department SharePoint Document Libraries are where files that need to be shared across multiple users can be stored. Similarly, documents can be stored as part of a Team in Microsoft Teams.

Certain file types are not allowed to be saved on SharePoint, Teams, or OneDrive. If you experience trouble saving a file due to these exceptions (for instance, executable files), please contact Help Desk who can work with you to find a suitable, regulated, secure storage platform.
