Panopto

Overview

Panopto allows users to record videos and screen captures on their computer then upload it to and stream it from an online location.  It is the SPU supported tool for lecture capture.

Features

Panopto allows users to easily generate captioned videos using automatic speech recognition technology, index videos for improved searching, have timed discussions and notes, give quizzes that integrate with the Canvas Gradebook, and setup a livestream.  Since Panopto is integrated with Canvas,  videos can be embedded into course content pages, discussions, assignments, or quizzes, or inserted as an item into a module group.

Designed For

The main use of Panopto is for faculty to record their lectures for students to review. It can also be used by students to record videos and submit them as assignments. Panopto is also available to staff to use to record videos.
