PaperCut

Overview

PaperCut is the software used on campus to keep track of the amount billed to a department account or specific user on campus when sending jobs to the Multi-Function Printers (MFP's) on campus.

Individual's can pay for printing via Falcon Funds; departmental printing expenses can be charged to the department's budget.  Print jobs can be initiated from both on- and off-campus.  These MFP's are part of our campus printing program and they provide high-quality, cost-effective printing.    Individual users are added to the population of PaperCut Users on a nightly basis, based on their relationship to the University.

Features

Users will be presented with the option to pay from their personal funds or the department in which they are a member, so each print job can be paid for correctly.

Designed For

PaperCut is automatically installed on SPU-managed computers, or can be downloaded on personal computers.  A web app also allows access.  For guests who are on campus and wish to print, this can be accomplished at the Ames Library Front Desk.   PaperCut users are defined based on their relationship to the University (employee, student, etc), and this is updated nightly.

Getting Started

For installation on a personally-owned computer, use web print, or download the PaperCut Print Client for Windows or Mac from the Download Center and use the Secure Print option.

For guest printing from on-campus, visit the Ames Library front desk.

For faculty/staff printing from your SPU computer, PaperCut should launch automatically.  If it does not, please contact the CIS HelpDesk at help@spu.edu.  For printing from a kiosk or podium computer (in a classroom) users will be prompted for their SPU credentials.

Technical Support and Training

Each Multi-Function Printer on campus has an instruction guide, which provides guidance on how to print in color or black and white, select a paper size (up to 11 X 17), and how to do other functions such as scanning or faxing.  Please contact the CIS HelpDesk at help@spu.edu or (206)281-2982 if you encounter difficulties using your PaperCut account to pay for MFP functions.

Administration and Maintenance

CIS maintains the PaperCut software.
