Slate

Overview

Slate is the CRM (Constituent Relationship Management) computer system used by Admissions. It is the University's Admissions tool for everything including: documenting interactions with prospective students, registering them for visit events, and responding to emails.

SPU has also begun to use Slate to send communications to current students in limited cases.

Features

All-in-one applicant tracking, management and engagement.

Email and text communications can be created and distributed to large populations.

Designed For

Slate is primarily used by Admissions for interacting with and tracking prospective students.

Slate can also be used by staff outside of Admissions to communicate with current students.

Getting Started

The following SPU populations are eligible to request Slate access: Staff, Faculty, Student Employees, Temporary Staff, and Non-Pay. Instructions on how to request additional accounts can be found here.

FERPA training must be completed prior to requesting access. Specific permissions are granted manually by Enrollment Operations (EOps) and CIS on a case-by-case basis.

If your department would like to begin using Slate to send communications to current students, you can learn more about the process on the Getting Started with Slate and Current Students page.

Technical Support and Training

Initial training and support is provided by CIS. Long-term training on the use of the tool should be provided by each area/team. If technical support is needed, please contact the CIS HelpDesk: help@spu.edu, (206) 281-2982.

Assistance with the content of your Slate communications in Slate should be directed to your department's regular UC specialist.

Administration and Maintenance

Administration of Slate is handled by Enrollment Operations. CIS maintains the integration between Slate and Banner.
