Overview
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security measure that requires a user to both know something (e.g.: a password) and have something (e.g.: a registered device) in order to login to a system. By authenticating their identity with multiple factors, their account is more secure against being compromised. At SPU, MFA typically takes the form of a prompt on a smart phone. The user usually just needs to confirm that a login attempt was requested by them on a registered device (e.g.: app, phone number, etc.).
Features
Users can download an app to their mobile device, and generally just need to confirm a login attempt in response to a push notification. Alternatively, users can use a phone number for SMS or a voice call, or other methods.
