Overview
Canvas is a Learning Management System (LMS) from Instructure. It is SPU's primary software for academic purposes.
It provides an online web portal for students and faculty to interact and enhance the learning experience. Faculty may use Canvas to share course materials and facilitate student learning through the use of discussion boards, journals, blogs, and wikis.  Faculty can also collect assignments, conduct assessments, and manage students grades all within their Canvas course site.
Canvas is used heavily by the SPU faculty and is managed by the Educational Technology and Media department. Classes, faculty, and students are uploaded nightly from Banner and provide space where SPU faculty distribute course materials, host online discussions, and communicate with students.
