SMB File Shares

We have a limited number of cases for which OneDrive and SharePoint are not suitable platforms. Most of these cases involve an external entity needing access to files (SFTP-type traffic) or a data system that can’t communicate with SharePoint (like Tableau).

If you feel like you need a new SMB File Share, please send an email to cis-bst@spu.edu with your request, including:

  • the purpose for the SMB share

  • the amount of disk space needed

  • the group that will manage the permissions to the share

  • the groups that should have access to the share (readers and writers)

To access SMB file shares, you’ll need to have access to the given share, then use your file explorer to point at the shared location: \\spu-smb\shareName
