In addition to Canvas and Panopto, Educational Technology and Media (ETM) supports the institutionally reviewed teaching and learning tools listed below. Some integrate with Canvas, while others are used as standalone services.
The tools listed below may support areas such as publisher content, plagiarism detection, document accessibility, Microsoft education tools, course evaluations, digital course materials, and other instructional needs. Select a tile to view the tool description, access information, integration details where applicable, and setup instructions.
Faculty who are interested in using a tool that is not listed here, including tools that require Canvas integration, should submit the tool for institutional review before use. Access Pearson
Publisher Integration
Access Pearson is a Canvas integration for connecting Pearson course materials and activities, such as MyLab, Mastering, Revel, and Pearson eText, to a Canvas course. Depending on the Pearson product, instructors may be able to add Pearson links and sync grades from Pearson to the Canvas Gradebook.
Cengage
Publisher Integration
Cengage is a Canvas integration for connecting Cengage course materials and activities, such as MindTap, WebAssign, and CNOW, to a Canvas course. Depending on the Cengage product, instructors may be able to add activity links and sync scores from Cengage to the Canvas Gradebook.
Macmillan Learning
Publisher Integration
Macmillan Learning is a Canvas integration for connecting Achieve course materials and activities to a Canvas course. Depending on the integration setup, instructors may be able to add Achieve assignment links and sync grades from Achieve to the Canvas Gradebook.
McGraw Hill Connect
Publisher Integration
McGraw Hill Connect is a Canvas integration for connecting Connect course materials and assignments to a Canvas course. Instructors can pair a Connect section with Canvas, add Connect assignment links, and sync scores from Connect to the Canvas Gradebook.
Microsoft Education
Microsoft Tools
Microsoft Education tools in Canvas allow instructors to use selected Microsoft 365 features, such as Teams Meetings and OneDrive. Instructors can schedule online class meetings in a Canvas site, share or embed OneDrive files.
Microsoft Forms
Forms and Polling
Microsoft Forms is a standalone Microsoft 365 tool for creating surveys, polls, and forms. At SPU, Microsoft Forms is the recommended replacement for Poll Everywhere, which has been discontinued.
Microsoft Booking
Booking
Microsoft Bookings is one option for managing student office-hour appointments, including both online and in-person sessions. Students can schedule appointments only during designated office-hour periods, while appointments remain synchronized with your Outlook calendar.
SmartEvals
Course Evaluations
SmartEvals is integrated with Canvas and is listed as Student Feedback on the course navigation menu. It is used to collect anonymous student feedback on courses and instructors at the end of each term.
Turnitin
Similarity Checking
Turnitin is integrated with Canvas and is used to check student submissions for similarity to existing sources. Instructors can enable Turnitin for Canvas assignments and review similarity reports from within the assignment workflow.
VitalSource
Bookstore Materials
VitalSource is integrated with Canvas and is listed in course navigation as Course Materials. Students who purchase eligible digital course materials through the SPU’s online bookstore, TextbookX, can access them from Course Materials in their Canvas course.
W.W.Norton & Company
Publisher Integration
W. W. Norton is a Canvas integration for connecting Norton digital course materials and activities, such as InQuizitive, Smartwork, and Norton eBooks, to a Canvas course. Depending on the setup, instructors may be able to add activity links and sync grades from Norton to the Canvas Gradebook.
zyBooks
Online Homework
zyBooks is a Canvas integration for connecting interactive digital course materials and assignments, commonly used in STEM and programming courses, to a Canvas course. Depending on the setup, instructors may be able to add zyBooks assignment links and sync scores to the Canvas Gradebook.
