Overview


The CIS HelpDesk provides a free referral service to current SPU students, faculty and staff.  CIS provides some initial troubleshooting and support for a variety of computer problems, but there are some issues that fall outside of the services the CIS HelpDesk can provide.  For those services, we have chosen to refer our customers to outside help.

There are three options for fixing your computer:

Do It Yourself Repairs
If you choose to the repairs yourself, this can be a time consuming process, but there is a lot of information online that can walk you through most issues:

  • How to back up your data
  • Perform a Windows OS Installation

Professional Repair Vendor Work Referral

  • Prices will vary depending on the type of service you request
  • The CIS HelpDesk is willing to call around to local repair professionals to locate a professional near your home, that could provide excellent service at a decent price.

Student Contract Work Referral

  • The services provided through Student Contract Work are performed by the individual and not CIS or SPU
  • These are individuals who manage their own businesses.  Based on the feedback from customers and the quality of their work, they are recommended by CIS.
