Keyboard Shortcuts

General Shortcuts:

  • Win Key (Windows Logo Key):

    • Open or close the Start menu.

  • Win + D:

    • Show or hide the desktop.

  • Win + E:

    • Open File Explorer.

  • Win + L:

    • Lock the computer.

  • Alt + Tab:

    • Switch between open applications.

  • Alt + F4:

    • Close the active window.

  • Ctrl + Z:

    • Undo an action.

  • Ctrl + X:

    • Cut selected items.

  • Ctrl + C:

    • Copy selected items.

  • Ctrl + V:

    • Paste copied or cut items.

  • Ctrl + A:

    • Select all items in a window.

Taskbar and Virtual Desktop Shortcuts:

  • Win + Number (1-9):

    • Open or switch to the application in the taskbar at the corresponding position.

  • Win + T:

    • Cycle through taskbar apps.

  • Win + Shift + S:

    • Open the Snipping Tool for taking screenshots.

  • Win + Tab:

    • Open Task View for virtual desktops and timeline.

  • Ctrl + Win + D:

    • Create a new virtual desktop.

  • Ctrl + Win + Left/Right Arrow:

    • Switch between virtual desktops.


Window Management Shortcuts:

  • Win + Up Arrow:

    • Maximize the active window.

  • Win + Down Arrow:

    • Restore or minimize the active window.

  • Win + Left/Right Arrow:

    • Snap the active window to the left or right side of the screen.

  • Win + Shift + Left/Right Arrow:

    • Move the active window to the left or right monitor (if using multiple monitors).

  • Alt + Space:

    • Open the window menu (to move, resize, minimize, maximize, or close the window).


System Shortcuts:

  • Win + I:

    • Open Settings.

  • Win + Print Screen:

    • Capture a screenshot and save it to the Screenshots folder.

  • Ctrl + Shift + Esc:

    • Open Task Manager.

  • Ctrl + Shift + S:

    • Open the Snip & Sketch tool for taking screenshots.
