- Katie Bennett (Deactivated)
Purpose
This synthesis course integrates Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) competencies for the post-Master’s board certified advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). Focus will be on the synthesis of the application of DNP competencies within the APRN specialty at an organizational level and the most advanced level of APRN practice.
Competencies
Faculty will monitor student progress toward meeting competencies, which are as important if not more important than meeting minimum hours in clinical practicum. Students who have not met competencies will not progress.
Progress will be monitored through:
- Clinical evaluations through Typhon
- Conversation with preceptors
- Site visit observation
Practice Hours
For DNP students who hold specialty certification a total of 500 practice hours are required.
Synthesis Practicum Hours
Synthesis practicum hours must be with a preceptor in APRN practice related to the population role and foci. 260 hours minimum
Indirect Care
In addition to the direct care hours, other mentored learning experiences assist the student to achieve DNP competencies as outlined in the AACN DNP Essentials and are a part of the 1000 practice hour requirement and completed as an immersion experience. 240 hours minimum
