This page is intended to be an overview for DNP Scholarly Project Chairs at Seattle Pacific University.  The quarters and courses listed below are based on typical student progression but may vary if a student's project is altered or delayed.

Autumn Quarter

NUR 7995 DNP Scholarly Project Proposal

3 credits with Normal Grading

The Faculty Chair's role in NUR 7995 is primarily as consultant and coach.  The course faculty will perform all grading related to this course.

Faculty Chair Tasks

  • Orient yourself to course requirements in Canvas course, configured by NUR 7995 course faculty.
  • Give feedback on working document submissions to Canvas assignment for student proposal paper, throughout quarter .  
  • Attend/view student proposal presentation and provide presentation feedback.
  • Prior to Project implementation:
    • Approve proposal paper. Could be delayed to future quarter, pending student readiness. (Reader must also sign off.)
    • Approve IRB application prior to student submission to SPU IRB Committee Rep.  Could be delayed to future quarter, pending student readiness.
      NOTE: F
      or both Exempt and Expedited studies, researchers must add the approved IRB number to their recruitment material, whether it be flyers, emails, letters, etc. that were approved. This is to officiate the documents showing that the study has been approved by IRB. 
  • Give permission to register for NUR 7996 when student is eligible.  If a student needs to be given a G or I grade, the student cannot register for NUR 7996 until their grade has been changed to a letter grade. 



Winter Quarter

NUR 7996 DNP Scholarly Project 

2 credits with Pass/No Credit Grading

Faculty Chair Tasks

  • Orient yourself to course requirements in Canvas course, configured by DNP Scholarly Project Coordinator.
  • Give feedback and mark completeness for all assignments in Canvas.
  • Enter a course grade for the student:
    • Give a G grade until Project implementation, evaluation, and analysis have been completed. (Typically at the end of Spring Quarter.)
    • If the student has not make sufficient progress according to Canvas rubrics give the student a No Pass grade.
  • Give permission to register for NUR 7996 when student is eligible.



Spring Quarter

NUR 7996 DNP Scholarly Project 

2 credits with Pass/No Credit Grading

Faculty Chair Tasks

  • Orient yourself to course requirements in Canvas course, configured by DNP Scholarly Project Coordinator.
  • Give feedback and mark completeness for all assignments in Canvas.
  • Enter a course grade for the student:
    • Enter a Pass grade for all sections of NUR 7996, when student has completed all Course Objectives and Requirements. Give a G grade if Objectives and Requirements are not complete.
    • If the student has not make sufficient progress according to Canvas rubrics give the student a No Pass grade.
  • Give permission to register for NUR 7997 when student is eligible or additional section of NUR 7996 if student has not completed all Course Objectives and Requirements.



Summer Quarter

NUR 7997 DNP Scholarly Project Completion

1 credits with Pass/No Credit Grading

Faculty Chair Tasks

  • Orient yourself to course requirements in Canvas course, configured by DNP Scholarly Project Coordinator.
  • Give feedback and mark completeness for all assignments in Canvas.
  • Enter a course grade for the student:
    • Enter a G grade at the end of Summer quarter until the entire DNP Scholarly Project, including all final submissions of Deliverables, has been completed and submitted via Canvas. 
    • Enter / Change to a Pass grade for all sections of NUR 7997, when the student has completed all Course Objectives and Requirements.  
    • If the student has not make sufficient progress according to Canvas rubrics give the student a No Pass grade. Give permission to register for an additional section of NUR 7997.
  • Attend DNP Scholarship Day to watch Poster Presentation and give feedback using Canvas rubric.
  • Complete DNP Scholarly Project Completion Approval form.
