DreamSpark is a program set up by Microsoft to provide students with software design and development tools at no charge. Engineering or Computer Science students can get access to more software with DreamSpark Premium

Access DreamSpark for Students

Students wishing to download programs such as Visual Studio as well as variety of other Microsoft Products made available through DreamSpark, must go www.dreamspark.com

Current SPU students may create a DreamSpark Student account and download software.
  1. Navigate to dreamspark.com/Student/.
    1. If you have an existing Microsoft account (apart from your SPU account) select Sign In to link it to DreamSpark

    2. If you do not have an existing Microsoft account (apart from your SPU account) select Create Account 
      1. Click Continue on the box that appears
      2. From the Microsoft login page, select Sign up now
      3. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a Microsoft account in order to link it to DreamSpark
  2. After signing in or creating a Microsoft account, a DreamSpark verification page should appear
  3. From the DreamSpark verification page, check that the account information is accurate and select continue to verify
  4. Select I have a school email account, enter your SPU email and select Verify
    1. Open your SPU email and follow the instructions in the verification email
  5. After verifying your school email account, navigate to the software catalog tab to download software

DreamSpark Student or DreamSpark Premium?

DreamSpark Student

  • Any SPU student is eligible
  • Grants access to limited Microsoft software
    • Visual Studio
    • OneNote
    • Expression
    • Azure
    • Windows Server

DreamSpark Premium

  • Computer Science and Engineering students only are eligible
  • Grants access to additional Microsoft software
    • DreamSpark Student software
    • Windows Operating Systems
    • Project
    • Visio
    • XNA Game Studio
