Overview
When authoring documents using HTML or other Web Page tools, it’s important to following a few basic steps to assure your document is readable by individuals with disabilities. The core principles are the same for all document types, but the individual steps vary depending on which tool you’re using and what the final format of the document will be. Specific steps for making your documents accessible can be found below.
General Guidelines
Regardless of the document format, these are the same core steps that can be integrated into a document regardless of the file being a PDF,Word Documents and HTML pages!
- Incorporate Headings
- Use Lists where possible
- Always add Alt Text to images
- Identify the document language
- Use Tables Wisely
- Understand how to export from one format to another
