This guide is intended for individuals wishing to log on to Citrix Remote Access on their personally owned computer or their issued SPU laptop/desktop.users who need to access SPU Resources from their personal computer. Citrix is capable of helping you access on-campus only resources, such as Department File Shares, certain pieces of software and your SPU Documents from your personal computer. See the chart below for a description of each function and a list of software available through Citrix.

Install Citrix Receiver on a SPU/Personal Computer (Windows)

  1. Go to: Citrix Receiver Download Page.
  2. Click the option to Download Receiver for Windows.
  3. Locate the downloaded file and open it to begin the installation process.
  4. Setup will now begin, select Start and follow the on screen instructions to proceed
      - (Note: You may be prompted to restart your computer once setup has completed, so be sure to save any important documents before proceeding)
  5. If you are prompted to "Add Account" or "Finish", select Finish

  1. Open the Citrix Receiver client.
  2. You will be prompted to In the "enter your work email or server address... In the text " field , type in citrix.spu.edu and click NextAdd.
    You will be prompted to enter your credentials. In the Domain\User field, type in accounts\ followed by your SPU username. In the password field, type in your SPU password. Click Log On

  3. You will now be directed to your Citrix home page. To add applications to the home screen, click the "plus" icon on the left
  4. Clicking on an application icon will pin it to your Citrix home screen

    Descriptions of application icons:
    • Microsoft Office 2013: Access to Office programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel, etc. 
    • My Work Documents: Within here are your files/folders from your SPU My Documents folder
    • Departmental File Share: Access to Matthew and department files
    • SPSS: Opens SPSS
    • My Work Desktop: Allows to you remotely connect to your SPU computer and enables you to control your SPU machine as if you were physically logged into it. You will need to know the name of your office computer. To find the computer name, look for the computer icon on your desktop. The name will be listed in parenthesis.
       - (Note: your SPU machine must be powered on and connected to SPU's network for this function to work)
    • INB: Opens INB
    • EMS: Opens the EMS client
    • Raisers Edge: Opens Raisers Edge
    • Talisma: Opens the Talisma clientEnter your SPU email address and password in the window that opened and press Log On.
  5. Open the application you want to launch.  If you do not see any applications, follow the steps below to add applications.

Add Apps to Home Screen

  1. Click the "+" icon on the left hand side of the application.
  2. Select the applications you want to add.  A green check mark will appear next to applications that will appear on the home screen.

  3. Once applications have been added to the Citrix home screen, applications can be opened by clicking on the respective icon
