Overview


 

In addition to document accessibility, email communication is a crucial component of the university's day-to-day processes and these communications should be made accessible while incorporating the principles of Universal Design.  Content needs to be responsive so it automatically re sizes based on the device/screen size that a person prefers, and incorporates some of the document accessibility functions to add structure so screen readers can read the emails too.  Use the links below to create university branded emails that are accessible and responsive.

General Guidelines


Regardless of the document format, these are the same core steps that can be integrated into a document regardless of the file being a PDF, Word Document or some other document format.

  • Incorporate Headings
  • Use Lists
  • Add Alt Text to images
  • Identify document language
  • Use Tables Wisely
  • Understand how to export from one format to another
  • No labels
