Overview


You can create groups for students to collaborate on group assignments, discussions, collaborations and share documents in Files. The feature of Groups creates a greater learning experience for students to work with peers collaboratively and creatively. 

Tip

There are three ways foryou to create groups based on different scenarios.You can assign grades to the groups createdin thesethree ways.

  • Groups created automatically
  • Groups created manually
  • Self-Sign-up groups



Sort Students into Groups Automatically

  • From the People tab [1] in Canvas, click + Group Set [2].

Image Added

  • Name the Group Set. Ex. Project Group [1].
  • Select "Split students by number of groups" [2].
  • Set the number of groups you want to create [3].
  • Canvas will automatically assign students into groups of the same size.
