Microsoft Teams is an application available to SPU faculty and staff. Teams is designed specifically for workplace communication and collaboration, bringing together functions such as Chat, Meeting Organization, Group Collaboration, Video Meetings, File and Desktop Sharing, as well as Session Recording all into a single user interface. To get started with Teams, you will first need to have the application installed on your SPU-provided computer. Once it is installed and you are signed on, you will have access to all of the available features in Teams.

Teams

On the left side of the Teams applications, there is a banner that is a shade of purple. That banner holds several options that are the most effective for daily use in your departments. 

Activity tab

The top option being Activity. The Activity tab is where your feed will be located. This is where all of the updates made in chats, groups, and channels will show up. You are able to customize what notifications show up here so that this is as effective as possible. If you would like to learn how to do that in further detail please go here. Below the Activity button, there is an option for Chat.

Chat tab

The Chat feature is where you are able to directly message members of your department. You are also able to create groups here by adding multiple people to a chat. Once you have created a Chat with another user, you are able to send them messages with special formatting to make the message more effective to the receiver. You are also able to start audio calls, video calls, and screen sharing sessions by selecting those options located in the upper right corner. Teams tab

The third option on the left banner is Teams. That option is where all of the teams you are a part of will show up as well as the channels associated for it. When you select this tab you are able to message in these channels, reorganize how they appear, and use files and other features. Meeting tab

The fifth icon on the banner is the Meeting option. This section of Teams is where you can see all of your scheduled meetings as well as where you are able to schedule meetings. If you want to learn how to use the feature in this section please go here
