Washington state eligibility requirements vary for the Washington College Grant (formerly named State Need Grant), State Work Study, and the College Bound Scholarship.
State Need Grant
To be eligible for the Washington College Grant students must be enrolled in a minimum of three credits, and they must complete at least half (50 percent) of the minimum number of credits they are enrolled in.
The school will place you on probation if you complete less than fifty percent of your credits. During probation, you must complete all of your attempted credits or you will not be able to receive your State Need Grant for the next quarter. While on probation, if you do not complete at least fifty percent of your credits, the school will cancel your State Need Grant.
State Work Study
To remain eligible for State Work Study, you must complete at least half (50 percent) of the credits you are enrolled in.
The school will place you on probation if you complete less than fifty percent of your credits. During probation you must complete all of your attempted credits or you will not be able to receive your State Work Study for the next quarter. While on probation, if you do not complete at least fifty percent of your credits, the school will cancel your State Work Study.Â
The College Bound Scholarship
Eligible families sign a pledge by June 30 of their 8th-grade year to enroll in the program. Students must graduate from high school, demonstrate good citizenship, and seek admission to a college or university to remain eligible. The school will re-check or confirm the family income and college admissions status after the student graduates from high school.
To remain eligible for the College Bound Scholarship, you must complete at least six credits each quarter. If you do not complete six credits, you will not receive the grant for the following quarter. Additionally, if you do not pass the minimum credits required for your enrollment status (i.e., 12 credits for full-time, nine credits for three-quarters time, or six credits for half-time), you will be placed on probation for one quarter. During probation, you must pass 100% of credits you attempt or the school will cancel your College Bound Scholarship the following quarter.
