Conditions of Purchasing Your Used SPU Computer
If the position will not be refilled or rehired, or the computer is deemed eligible for replacement by CIS, then the device may be eligible to be purchased by the departing individual.
When a faculty or staff person purchases their former SPU computer or a projector to use as a personal device, the expectation is that it will no longer be used in their capacity as an SPU employee. The device is no longer supported by the University. For computers, a new operating system will be installed, institutional data is removed, and the hard drive is decrypted. SPU devices that have been purchased as personal devices may no longer be connected to SPU resources, and CIS will treat the device as such upon point of purchase. See the formal policy on the purchase of used SPU computer equipment here: Centralized PC Purchasing Policy#Faculty/StaffPurchaseofUsedComputers
