This page explains registration errors you may encounter during the online registration process and how to fix them.

Preq and Test Score-Error

The instructor or the academic department may override the prerequisite in certain circumstances.

Contact the instructor or the academic department that oversees the class to request this.

Class Restriction

The class is restricted to students in certain class standings (e.g., freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors); records show you are not in that class standing.

Contact the department for exceptions.

Closed-999 Waitlisted 

This class is full and you cannot register for it. 

You can add your name to the waitlist by selecting the “waitlist via web” option from the Action column.

Co-requisite With XXXX

You are registering for one of two (or more) classes for which you must registered at the same time (different courses).

This course requires that you register for the additional course(s). See the Time Schedule for the appropriate course(s).

College Restriction

The class is restricted to people in certain groups of academic majors. If not your major, you are not allowed to register for this class.

Contact the instructor or department for exceptions.

Coordinator Permission

The program coordinator must give permission to take this class.

Contact the department coordinator for approval.

Duplicate Course

You are attempting to register for the same course twice in the same academic quarter. This is not allowed unless it is a lecture/lab situation (linked courses).

Contact Office of the Registrar with questions.

Graduate Director

The graduate director must give permission to take this class.

Contact the graduate director for approval.

Independent Study Agreement

The instructor or department must give permission to take this class, which includes making an independent study agreement. 

Contact the instructor for approval.

Instructor & Advisor

Both the instructor and your advisor must give permission to take this class.

Contact your advisor and the instructor for approval.

Instructor & Audition

You must audition and obtain permission from the instructor to take this class.

Contact the instructor for approval.

Instructor Permission Req

You must have permission from the instructor to take this class.

Contact the instructor for approval.

Intern Learning Contract

An Internship Learning Contract must be provided in order to register for this class.

Complete the Internship Learning Contract form (PDF) and then submit the information through the online system, Handshake. The process is overseen by the Center for Career and Calling and you can contact them with questions.

Level Restriction

The class is restricted to students in certain degree levels. Your records show that you are not at that degree level.

Contact the department for exceptions.

Link Error-Type XX Req

You are registering for one of two classes that must be registered simultaneously (usually lecture with a lab).

Refresh page and this time register for both the lab and lecture at the same time. Enter both CRNs in the Add Class boxes before clicking on "Submit Changes."

Major Restriction

The class is restricted to students in certain majors. Your records show that you are not in that major.

You are not allowed to register for this class. Contact the department for exceptions.

Maximum Hours Exceeded

You are attempting to register for more credits than allowed.

Contact Office of the Registrar with questions.

School Dean Permission

You must have permission from the school’s dean to take this class.

Contact the school’s dean for approval.

School of Education Permis

You must have permission from the School of Education to take this class.

Contact the School of Education for approval.

Time Conflict With XXXXX

You are trying to register for two classes with overlapping times.

This is not allowed. Contact Office of the Registrar with questions.

Travel Study Regsr Form

A Travel Study Registration form must be provided in order to take this class.

Contact the study abroad office for registration instructions.
