5.1 Bereavement Time Off
Staff that accrue sick leave: Up to five days of sick pay may be taken upon the death of the employee's spouse, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. This time off must be requested and approved via an Absence request.

Faculty and other benefitted staff that do not accrue leave: Up to five days may be taken upon the death of the employee's spouse, parent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law. This time off is paid by SPU and must be requested and approved by via an Absence request.

Manage Absence
Enter dates on the calendar
Click on Request Absence
Under Types of Absence choose Other Time Off
Choose Bereavement
Enter any comments needed and then submit request
