How to Connect to a Network Share from a Mac
Accessing shared departmental files from a Mac requires a separate process compared to Windows.
In order to connect to a network share, you will need to either be on campus (and connected to our campus network) or /wiki/spaces/HDOP/pages/34636786.
Step by Step Instructions
- Open a new finder window
- Click Go on the task bar and select Connect to server...
- Enter the server address beginning with smb://
- Matthew example: smb://matthew.spu.edu/depts
- Click Connect to go to the destination
Click the + icon to save the file path for future access. - A new window will open to your department share.
Tips
- When connecting, you can enter the full server path. For example: smb://matthew/tss_team/classroom
- Add the server to favorites by pressing the + next to the text box.
- To add the location to your Finder sidebar, click File and select add to sidebar.
