The multi-function printers deployed around campus occasionally experience paper jams. These need to be cleared carefully to avoid damaging the printer internals.
Step-by-step guide
Follow these steps when trying to clear a paper-jam:
- Check to ensure that the printer has a paper jam. This can be done by trying to print another document or attempting to copy a document.
- Check the common locations where paper jams occur. These can be seen in the gallery below.
- If a paper jam is/isn't found:
- If there is no visible paper jam, yet the MFP still displays the "paper jam" message, please call CIS at (206)-281-2982.
- If a paper jam is found, gently remove the obstruction in the direction that the paper would normally move while printing
To avoid damaging the MFP's, do not exert any unnecessary force on any part of the printer while searching for or trying to clear a jam.
