Overview


You can create an assessment using New Quizzes from the Quizzes page. You can create various types of content in each assessment.

Creating an assessment


  • In Course Navigation, click

  • Then click

  • the Add Quiz

  • In the Choose a Quiz Engine screen, select

the 
  • the New Quizzes

 option
  •  option. To save your quiz engine selection for this course, check

  • the Remember my choice for this course

    Then click

Note: You can reset your quiz engine choice from the Quiz Options menu at any time.

  • In

the 
  • the Assignment Name

 field
  •  field, enter the name of your assessment. To enter assessment details, enter the total points possible, select the assignment group, and choose how the grade is displayed to students.

    To remove this assessment from final grade calculations, click

the 
  • the Do not count this assignment towards the final grade

 checkbox

  • In

the 
  • the Assign To

 field
  •  field, select who will be required to take the assessment. You can assign the assessment to individual students or sections.

  •  field, select the assessment due date.

  •  fields, select the availability dates for the assessment. In progress quizzes will automatically submit when the Until date and time passes.

Note: If you have set section override dates in your course, you may need to select a course section and set due and availability dates that fall within the section override dates.

  • To save your assessment details, click

  •  button. To save and publish your assessment, click

  • the Save & Publish

    Clicking the Save or Save & Publish button returns you to the page where you opened the assessment.

  • To open the New Quizzes build page and add questions and content to your assessment, click

  • For each question, you can enter a question title, question stem, and answers. You may also select options specific to the question, align the question to an outcome,

    To save the question, click

Note:

 Essay

 Essay questions do not include an answer field and must be graded manually.

  • To delete a question, click

  • To open the Question Navigator and view your assessment, click

  • In the Question Navigator, you can view each question number, question type, point total, question stem, and total question points. 

    To view a question in the assessment, click the question stem. You will be taken to the question within the assessment.

    To manually reorder questions, click and hold

  •  icon. Drag the question to where you want it to display in the assessment.

  • To close your assessment and return to the Quizzes page, click
