In addition to document accessibility, email communication is a crucial component of the university's day-to-day processes and these communications should be made accessible while incorporating the principles of Universal Design. Content needs to be responsive so it automatically re sizes based on the device/screen size that a person prefers, and incorporates some of the document accessibility functions to add structure so screen readers can read the emails too. Regardless of the document format, these are the same core steps that can be integrated into a document regardless of the file being a PDF, Word Document or some other document format.
- Incorporate Headings
- Use Lists where possible
- Add Always add Alt Text to images
- Identify the document language
- Use Tables Wisely
