All SPU information technology systems, equipment, and resources are subject to the Computer Acceptable Use policy. The purpose of the Acceptable Use Policy is to enable the appropriate, effective and efficient use of campus technology resources for University operations.

The SPU Username and Password controls access to many different campus resources, including: Banner, Webmail, Canvas, SPU Download Center, access the SPU Network, Departmental Shares, all desktop/office/lab computers. Changing this one password will affect each of these resources. Helpful ideas to create and maintain a good password can be found at: Password Policies and Guidelines.The Computer User Accounts and Resources policy provides information about who is eligible for what, and about how accounts and resources are affected following changes in academic or employment standing.

Password Restrictions

  • After a certain number of successive incorrect attempts to log in, the account will be “locked-out” for approximately thirty minutes, or until CIS is contacted.

  • When changing your password, be sure to update all connected devices that have your stored password (e.g.: email on smartphones, tablets, etc).
