Students and Alumni can search and apply for jobs and internships through Handshake, as well as sign up for career events and advising appointments. Employers can connect directly with SPU students and alumni.

Designed For
Handshake is used by the Center for Career and Calling and the Office of Student Employment to manage employment events and student career documentation. Students use the system to connect with potential employers and take advantage of career/networking events. Academic departments can also use the system to manage internships for their students. Students who are completing an internship for course credit must submit their learning form via Handshake prior to enrollment in the internship course.
Getting Started
Students and Alumni: Activate your account by going to the “Student and Alumni” portal and sign in with your SPU credentials.
SPU Faculty and Staff: If you are posting an on-campus position, please review SPU's Recruiting Policy and use the “Employers” portal. If you are managing internships on behalf of your academic department, please contact the Center for Career and Calling.
External Employers: Please review SPU's Recruiting Policy, and contact Employer Relations to create an Employer account.
Private Household Employers: Please review SPU's Recruiting Policy, and follow the steps here to create your account.
The Handshake App is available for iOS and Android.

Administration and Maintenance
Handshake is a vendor-supported, web-based tool. Within SPU, the Center for Career and Calling and Office of Student Employment have administrative account. CIS supports the integration between Banner and Handshake and processes administrative account requests made through Banner Self-Service.
