Guest Status

You are a guest of the site and preceptor, please act accordingly.

  • Students are expected to arrive promptly and be prepared to fully engage in their clinical experience. Tardiness and uncommunicated absences are unprofessional and not allowed.
  • Set clear expectations with your preceptor so that you can get the most out of each experience but do not feel pressured to practice outside your scope as a student.
  • Abide by HIPAA: it can’t be said enough, do not leave your site with any identifying information.

Communication

  • Always use your SPU email account for communication.  It is our expectation that you check your SPU email daily.
  • Be proactive by asking questions.
  • Communicate with Clinical Placement Coordinator, Maddie Richardson, regarding times of limited internet access (e.g. vacations over breaks, mission trips, etc.)
  • Communicate any absences due to illness or emergencies to both your preceptor and faculty.

Typhon Use

...

Each site has a specific clinical placement policy that needs to be followed or the site will not allow placement.  Typically, the clinical site wants only to work with a single designated person from the academic site.

It is not likely that a student will hear any report of progress until the majority of sites are confirmed.  Students should not intervene in this process, as this will delay its completion.
