  1. Sitecore Login

    1. Use a Firefox or Internet Explorer 10 browser when making edits in Sitecore Page Editor.
    2. Put Copy the URL http://sitecore-master.spu.edu/sitecorein your and paste it into your browser's address bar to access the Sitecore login page.
    3. In the center of the Sitecore login screen, click the Options link , near the center of the screen . Then click to expand the window. You will see three editing option buttons; click the Page Editor button.
    4. For the box User Name: Enter ad\ (i.e., find the necessary the backslash directly below your keyboard's "Backspace"), then after ad\, add your Windows username.

    e.g.:

    User Name: ad\username
    Password: Your Windows password

     


     

  2. Navigate to the Catalog

    1. Now that you are logged in, you should see the SPU home page.
    2. Copy and paste the following URL into your browser to access the catalog sitecore-master.spu.edu/catalog/undergraduate/20156Click on the "Home" into your browser's address bar.
    3. Click the Home tab in the upper left hand corner to the right of the "Save Disk" icon to view the Page Editor Ribbon.
    4. Once there click "Preview" which will allow you to use the catalog's left nav.
    5. Then use the left nav, or links with the pages, to get to the page you wish to change.


     

  3. Make a Quick Change

    1. Click the "Edit" button, in the Ribbon, in the upper left-hand corner of the browser.
    2. Click on the content section where you need to make the change, a box should appear around the text you clicked on, and make the edit.
    3. Save the changes, by clicking the "Save" icon in the upper left, and preview them by copy and pasting the URL from the address bar into a new tab or a different browser.

       

       

  4. Using the "Rich Text Editor"

    1. For more advanced edits, like creating an external link; uploading and linking a PDF; or making a bulleted list, use the "Rich Text Editor."
    2. To open the "Rich Text Editor" click on the paper icon in the upper left of the options tool bar (highlighted below in light orange).

       

    3. Make modification, like adding a link with the "Hyperlink Manager" menu option located near the middle of the top row of options (as seen below).
    4. Once you're done with your changes, click "Accept" towards the lower right of the popup window, then click the "Save" icon.
    5. Next, click the "My Items" option in the ribbon and click "Unlock All."
    6. Finally, verify modifications in another browser.



       

     

  5. Logging Out

    1. ATTENTION: Before logging out, make sure you have unlocked all of the pages you have edited by clicking the "My Items" option in the "Home" ribbon and click "Unlock All."
    2. Click the "Log Off" button towards the right of the options of the "Home" ribbon to exit Sitecore.

     

  6. ADVANCED: Updates to Table Data

    1. If you need to updated data or information that is housed in a table, please open the "Rich Text Editor" for the section that needs updating and choose the HTML view, then make the edits within the code.

Sitecore Glossary
  • Callout – Promotional box that highlights events, stories, new books, open houses, videos, etc. The Callout is generally located in the right-hand column of the web page.
  • Page Editor – Sitecore feature where updates are made. Login to the “Page Editor” when entering Sitecore.
  • Item – Sitecore file, which could be a web page, news item, folder, or callout.
  • Landing Page – Home and primary pages of a site, i.e., SPU Home, Library Home, SOT Home, SOT Seminary, SOT Undergraduate Programs.
  • Left-Hand Nav – The links found in the left-hand column of the SPU website.
  • Publish – How an update is posted to the live server in Sitecore.
  • Ribbon – Top portion of the Sitecore Content Editor, which house the buttons and functions to make updates.
  • Rich Text Editor – A special box that allows the user to enter or modify text and links without having to use programming code.
  • Sitecore – The name of SPU’s content management system.
  • User Name – What you use to login to Sitecore, that is the same as your Windows login.
