Before your First Day

- Submitting documentary proof of vaccination: All employees of SPU are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of vaccination unless the employee has been approved for a medical or religious exemption. See our vaccination requirements: FAQ's page for more information. Your proof of vaccination or request for exemption should be completed as part of the offer/acceptance process since it is a contingency of employment. If you missed this step, please submit proof of vaccination or request for exemption to hr@spu.edu.
On or Before your First Day Tasks
- For faculty starting on September 1st:
- Complete before/in New Faculty Orientation*:
- I-9 form - The purpose of this form is to authenticate both the employee's identity and eligibility to work in the United States. HR is required to have this form completed by the first day of employment. The form must be signed with HR personnel and original forms of identification (not copies) viewed at the time of completion. See page 3 for list of acceptable identification.
- W-4 form - the purpose of this form is to determine the appropriate federal income tax that is to be taken from one's pay. Please complete the W-4 form online through the Banner system.
- Personal Identification Data sheet (if not previously completed) -This form is used for internal purposes only, in order to correctly set the employee up in HR's computer systems.
- Check out the SPU Dining Services site to find places to eat and get coffee on campus.
- Complete before/in New Faculty Orientation*:
*To save time at orientation, the I-9 and W-4 can be completed before your orientation date, in Human Resources. HR is open Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm and is located at 330 W Nickerson Street.

- Complete in HR:

- Set up your SPU email account (must be done before given access to Banner/Percipio)
- Faculty/Staff ID card - obtain from Falcon Card Services
- Set-up your direct deposit
- Set up your emergency contacts and sign up for SPU-Alert
- Complete the required online compliance trainings
- Adjust White Pages display information
- If you are not/were not able to attend New Faculty Orientation in the fall, please stop by the Faculty Life Office to pick up a hard-copy of the Faculty Handbook and to also sign the Faculty Handbook Receipt Acknowledgment.
